Even with the best preparation, skills, and behavior, accidents can still happen. In such situations, BackcountrySOS provides a straightforward smartphone application that enables users to swiftly share their status and location details with emergency responders.

 <li>High contrast: BackcountrySOS features high contrast settings for easy readability in bright sunlight without straining your eyes at night.</li>
 <li>No setup: Users are not required to create an account or log in; the app is readily available for immediate use on your device.</li>
 <li>Data efficient: Functioning even with limited signal for sending a text message, the app operates in areas where data access or voice calls may be impossible.</li>
 <li>Private: Your information remains stored solely on your device, enhancing privacy. You retain control over the data shared when initiating an SOS message.</li>
</ul>

The app is compatible with text-to-911 services, presently supported in nearly 1,500 counties with ongoing additions each month. Moreover, a growing number of first responders actively monitor communications from BackcountrySOS users.
